  1. To ASCD,
As a long time member of ASCD, there is no doubt that the work of Zig Engelmann is (in my opinion) the most important contribution to successful learning that has occurred during my career of 50+years as an educator. DI emerged about the first year that I began teaching in 1967! I am now running my second successful academic intervention business based upon using Direct Instruction! The tremendous number of lives we have changed for the good, with Direct Instruction, humbles me on a daily basis!
We offer a written guarantee with our professional services: “we guarantee one year of grade equivalency growth in 30 hours of instruction.” In reality, our students (who are one or more years below current grade placement) are actually gaining between 1 to 3.5 years in those 30 hours. Our students include more than a significant percentage (over 40%) of at-risk learners, who are on an IEP, a 504 Plan, have been diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD or autism.
As Zig would repeat each year at the Annual NIFDI Conference in Eugene, IT WORKS!
Thank you Zig for am amazing program that continues to produce outstanding results for learners everywhere.
